Hi Everyone! I hope I am not asking a stupid question.
But I'll be going to Tokyo by myself this coming Wednesday, and I wanted to familiarize myself with the train system, at least how to properly transfer from one train to another. I have been watching videos and reading articles regarding the the JR lines, Metro and Toei lines. But I still need some clarification on transferring.
For example, I need to go to Nakano Station, and I started off at Nippori Station, via JR YAMANOTE transferring to METRO TOZAI going to Nakano. See my route below:
JR YAMANOTE ---- Nippori to Takadanobaba
transfer to...
METRO TOZAI ---- Takadanobaba to Nakano
The question is... I wanted to know, what happens when I reach Takadanobaba via JR YAMANOTE? Before transferring to METRO TOZAI line, should I still have to exit tap my card from JR YAMANOTE before I board the METRO TOZAI? What are the rules? Or should I just board/transfer directly to METRO without tapping exit from YAMANOTE?
Your help is greatly appreciated. I have pretty severe anxiety at screwing up. :(

Hi Stef,
No need to be anxious. Transferring between JR and the Metro is easy. At Takadanobaba station, yes you need to tap your card to exit the JR line. And then I think the Tozai line is underground so just take the stairs down and then tap your card again to enter the Metro line. This is usually what you do when transferring from JR to Metro at any station.

Thank you very much, Akane!
I did some research as well, and realized it can be a little less complicated if I familiarize myself.
I'm sure it will be difficult to get used to at first when I get there.
But I really appreciate the response!
THANK YOU AGAIN!
